Introduction
My master's thesis is titled "Unmapped: Emerging Practices in Virtual Exhibition Design". It presents a web-based, immersive, and interactive virtual exhibition, aimed at challenging traditional exhibition design and highlighting the untapped potential of virtual showcases. This research is particularly significant for designers, art lovers, and the younger generation intrigued by Web3 technology, offering a new perspective on how we engage with art and exhibition spaces.
This project resonates with current trends, including the rise of immersive virtual spaces such as the Metaverse, VR, and MR, reflecting the evolving demands of today's audience. Drawing inspiration from interactive games and movies, it integrates user agency and customization into exhibition design by using user API, offering audiences a more participatory role.
Questions that guided my research:
- How can we create a sense of wonder equal to the experience of traditional exhibitions in physical spaces?
- How can graphic design use the unique opportunities offered by virtual experiences to enhance viewer engagement?
- How can we create a platform that allows viewers to actively participate in the creative process?
- How can we create experiences that transcend the limits of physical space?
